Job Summary:The person hired for the position of Automotive Quality Specialist will be responsible for quality programs of major importance to the corporation’s initiative in the Automotive Industry. They will lead and coordinate gap assessments to the Automotive Industry expectations. Lead and coordinate training across all levels and many division/sites. And may lead/coordinate the certification process, as required across multiple divisions and manufacturing sites.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Leads International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 gap assessments across multiple divisions and manufacturing sites
Documents results, observations and conclusions in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files) and prepares reports to communicate results to appropriate personnel
Establishes priorities for Automotive Electrification (AE) divisions in continual improvement with respect to IATF16949, co-develops plans with AE divisions
Identifies, establishes and executes programs to train, counsel, and guide engineers, managers and directors across multiple divisions including the manufacturing locations supporting the Automotive Industry
Facilitates strategic direction discussions, enabling conformance to customer expectations with respect to IATF16949
Coordinates conformance and certification to IATF16949 across multiple divisions and manufacturing sites
Responsible for internal quality system auditing in division facilities
Maintains extensive network of resources (quality, laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments
Independently performs project planning. Establishes project objectives and priorities
Functions as an effective team leader and promotes harmonious and efficient working relationships
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
Minimum of seven (7) years of combined Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Minimum of two (2) years of combined Quality Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Statistics or related discipline from an accredited university
Experience in the Automotive Industry, including Supplier Management (private, public, government or military)
Experience as a Lead Auditor
IATF16949 and German standard: Verband der deutschen Automobilindustrie E.V. (VDA) 6.3 experience preferred, with understanding of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025-Laboratory Accreditation
Experience with Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Core Tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and associated control plans
Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management [e.g American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP])
Black Belt experience
Skills include communication, writing, handling conflict
Experience working on a cross functional team
Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab or another statistical tool a plus
Location: Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 45% domestic/international
Relocation: Is authorized
