The Auto Care Association is the voice of the auto care industry. We represent more than 500,000 businesses and serve our members in a variety of ways to help them maintain their position as innovative and impactful businesses. We are currently seeking an outstanding Senior Software Engineer/Solution Architect to add to our talented technology team. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for managing resources and contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of various Auto Care Association products and solutions. This person will assist in coordinating internal and external resources (both 3rd party contractors and industry participants) to ensure that business requirements and industry needs are met. Additionally, this person ensures best practices are developed and followed with respect to system, development and deployment throughout the technology department and will share responsibility for development resource allocation and coordination, maintenance and enhancement tracking, and implementation planning.
The specific duties and responsibilities include:
Lead design and development of new technology products for the automotive aftermarket
Execute maintenance and minor enhancement releases for existing applications
Develop, coordinate, and execute Systems Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Develop, coordinate, and execute training design, documentation and delivery efforts
Provide technology product support via phone and email
Ensure applications and products have the appropriate documentation artifacts and establish and enforce processes to keep them current
Evaluate feedback from users, industry stakeholders, developers and incorporate into application design
Direct internal and external development resources (both 3rd party contractors and industry participants) for ongoing and future product development
Work with the Auto Care Association technology team and colleagues to stay abreast of trends in the industry’s application of technology to ensure that current and future Auto Care Association offerings align with the needs of our users
Share best practices and support the production of technical specification for application design and development for each product
Manage and develop internal Projects as required
Manage project meetings with the industry stakeholders
Other duties as assigned
May require travel up to 10 percent of the time (local, regional, national) by air, car, or rail.
The successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent experience
8+ years’ experience as a software engineer with specific experience developing data-driven applications as well as developing a variety of software systems while taking on increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation and deployment tasks
Experience designing/developing a Microsoft .Net MVC WebAPI application using Microsoft SQL
Exposure or experience with front-end design and development of web application interfaces
Experience with Azure/cloud application development and management
Experience with Server, Entity Framework and Identity 2.0 – preferably cloud deployment
Prior experience working within a team committed to an accepted SDLC, preferably a “low-ceremony” Agile methodology, e.g. Scum, XP, LEAN, Kanban, etc.
Strong experience in middle and back end application design incorporating moderate to complex business rules and requirements
Proficiency in C# required
Proficiency in Model-View-Controller (MVC)
Proficiency in backend database management, SQL Server Integration and ETL
Experience in deploying and supporting at least one software-as-a-service (SaaS) application running in a high-availability public or hybrid cloud environment, e.g., Microsoft, Amazon, Google, etc.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to understand business needs and transform these into solution requirements
Good problem-solving skills
Good team management and project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong presentation and analytical skills
Knowledge in solution development and implementation
Ability to work with both technical and business units and communicating effectively across organizations
Demonstrated proficiency in applying accepted best practice architectural patterns during solution design to enhance application performance and availability while mitigating potential risks
