General Manager/Plant Manager
Located in the Torreon, Coahuila Mexico area this plant produces thermal systems for vehicles. This position reports daily to the plant in Mexico. In addition to wages, a bonus structure will reward the high achiever.
Job description
- Provides daily general management over manufacturing, engineering, materials, quality assurance/control, human resources, and information systems for a plant or production facility.
· Defines and implements plans, actions, and measurements to meet the aligned department/personal goals and objectives. Measures and evaluates execution of plans and makes appropriate adjustments to meet the aligned goals and objectives.
· Gathers data and reaches decisions to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Evaluates and recommends new equipment, process changes and maintenance technologies.
- Manages the activities of a manufacturing area with consideration for the goals and objectives of the organization in all assigned areas in a specific site location.
- Sets and manages the plant budget. Takes a direct leadership approach in managing the P&L for the plant.
- Develop goals and objectives for each department on site.
- Develop personal goals and objectives that enhance the organization and individual leadership qualities.
- Define and communicate performance expectations for employees and coach and counsel on a daily and weekly basis. Document performance and training deficiencies when needed. Approve and direct employee improvement plans and disciplinary actions. Maintain a fair, consistent working relationship with all employees.
- Associated duties include, but not limited to, site maintenance, site environmental compliance and site safety compliance.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required for the General Manager position - Manufacturing
- Four-year college degree related to management, manufacturing, or finance.
- 7+ years' experience in an operations management related role or Manufacturing Engineer position.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
· Knowledge of existing manufacturing systems including computer systems, vehicle cooling systems, material flow, quality systems and process control techniques. Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods and practices.
- Knowledge of related processes, products and services along with employee and labor relations.
- Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods. Knowledge of positive employee relations practices.
- Ability to execute business plans and achieve goals. Open and candid communications style; willingness to dissent and encourage dissent prior to final decision making.
- Ability to lead others and to effectively manage individual employee performance.
- Ability to train and develop other professionals. High responsiveness to customer requests.
